#1: Button Number match activity

ThisButton Number Match Activityis so simple and quick to make, you’ll have a fun educational activity set up for your little learner in no time.

MATERIALS:

• Egg carton
• Buttons (woodenorassorted pack)
• Permanent marker

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Using the permanent marker, write out numbers 1-12 on the bottom of each egg carton section. If you’re using an 18 section egg carton, use numbers 1-18.
• Prepare the buttons by pouring them into the egg carton lid.

#2: bee counting activity

ThisBee Counting Activityis a quick counting activity you can set up in under 5 minutes!

MATERIALS:

• Cardboard
• Bee stickers
• Craft scissorsORcraft knife + mat(use whatever you feel comfortable with, I used scissors)
• Number manipulatives (I got the number cubes from Target Dollar Spot, you can also use a dice)

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Using the scissors (or craft knife) cut out as many honeycombs as you want. I made 5 honeycombs.
• Prepare your number manipulatives and stickers.

The way we did this was we used a cube with different numbers on each side. My son simply rolled it and the number that was up was the number of bee stickers he had to place on the honeycomb. You can simply use a dice, but I wanted my son to see the number written out.

#3: paper roll number match

ThisPaper Roll Number Match Activityrequires only a couple of materials plus a paper roll that anyone can find in their home! I love easy recycled crafts and activities that will keep a child occupied. Therefore, this activity is perfect for little ones because it focuses on so many areas of development meanwhile and most importantly the child is having a great time! You’ll need a paper roll, dot stickers and a permanent marker. That’s it! About 5 minutes of effort, you’ve got a great educational activity for your child

MATERIALS:

• Dot stickers
• Permanent marker
• Paper roll

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Firstly, begin by numbering the dot stickers with the permanent marker. We used up a full sheet of dot stickers using numbers 1-15, however you can use as many dot stickers as you’d like!
• Secondly, using the permanent marker, write out the matching numbers on the paper roll, scattering their order.

#4: Counting ladybug spots activity

This Counting Ladybug Spots Activity is a great invitation for toddlers to familiarize with numbers and learn to count.

MATERIALS:

• Cardboard
• Colored permanent markers
• Mini black pom-poms

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Using a small piece of cardboard (I used approx. 10″ x 5″ size) and colored permanent markers to draw 5 simple ladybugs. Number each one. You can either number them 1-5 or 6-10, like I did.
• Place the mini black pom-poms into a bowl and set beside the cardboard with ladybugs.

#5: clothespin counting cards

This Clothespin Counting Card activity is a wonderful way to introduce counting, learn about quantities and familiarize with numbers. It’s also great for improving and exercising fine motor skills, cognitive skills as well as for learning colors. It’s fantastic overall, especially the fact that it takes less than 5 minutes to prep

MATERIALS:

• White cardstock
• Colored permanent markers
• Craft scissors
• Small clothespins

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Start by cutting out 5 (up to the number you’ll be using) squares/rectangles (approx. 3″x 4″) out of the white cardstock.
• Next, using the colored permanent markers, number each card 1-5 using different colors for each card.
• Now, add the corresponding number of dots at the side (this usually helps the toddlers, can skip for preschoolers).
• Lastly, color the correct number of clothespin with the corresponding color.

#6: dino ten frame

This Dino Ten Frame is super easy to make, fun and exciting!

MATERIALS:

• Toy dinosaurs
• White cardstock
• Ruler
• Permanent marker
• Number manipulatives or cards

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Set-up is super easy. Make 10 equal frames using the ruler and permanent marker. That’s it!
• Prep the dinosaurs and number manipulatives.

Rules:

Let the child pick a number and fill as many frames with dinos, one per frame.

If using number cards: shuffle the number cards and flip upside down. Let the child flip over one card to reveal a number and fill the frames.

#7: egg number match activity

This Egg Number Match Activity is a super easy-to-prep activity that encourages toddlers and preschoolers to learn to count, helps them visually see the order of numbers and simply have fun all at the same time!

MATERIALS:

• Foam eggs (10)
• Craft scissors
• Permanent marker

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Cut each egg in half and mark the top half with “dots” 1-10.
• Next, tally mark the bottom halves 1-10 to match the tops.Mixing up the colors of the eggs makes it a bit more challenging!

Kids need to match up the correct quantity of dots to the tally marks to complete an egg. Once all of them at matched up, let the kiddos place the eggs in numerical order!

#8: Apple Tree Number Match

Who’s enjoying all the Fall crafts and activities? I’ve got a super quick and easy one to share with you. It’s the Apple Tree Number Match using Dot Stickers!

MATERIALS:

• Cardstock (white, green, brown)
• Craft scissors
• Permanent marker
• Gluestick
• Dot stickers

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Using the green cardstock, cut out a tree and brown cardstock for the tree trunk. Glue onto the white cardstock.
• Now, with the permanent marker randomly write out numbers 1-10 on the tree.
• Lastly, write matching numbers on the dot stickers.

#9: christmas tree hole punching count

This Christmas Tree Hole Punching Count is a simple to prep activity, using minimal materials and effort! Christmas Tree Hole Punching Count allows toddlers and preschoolers to count, recognize numbers, their order and to visually see their quantity. It’s also super fun, because of course you’re using a hole puncher!

MATERIALs:

• Green cardstock
• Brown cardstock
• Craft scissors
• Single hole puncher
• Permanent marker
• Glue stick

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Cut out elongated triangles out of the green cardstock, these will be your trees. They don’t have to be big, smaller trees are easier for toddlers to hold.
• Then, cut out small rectangles out of the brown cardstock for the tree trunks and glue to the trees.
• Using the permanent marker, number each trunk 1-6 or as many trees you’ve made.

Lay out the Christmas trees out in order and set the hole puncher alongside.

The child has to hole punch as many holes as it says on each tree! Super fun and engaging!

#10: turkey feather count activity

ThisTurkey Feather Count Activityis simple, fun and helps little ones learn numbers!

MATERIALS:

• White paper
• Markers
• Dot markers

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Draw simple turkeys on the white paper and label each one with a number. We did repeating numbers between 1-5.

The child has to stamp the correct number of dots, using the dot markers, as it says inside each turkey!

#11: apple tree counting activity

ThisApple Tree Counting Activityis all about Fall, apples and counting!

MATERIALS:

• Paper roll
• Colored permanent markers(you can also use crayons)
• Dot markers

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Roll out a large piece of paper roll and cut.
• Draw simple trees using the colored permanent markers (or crayons) all over the paper roll. Fit as many as you can.
• Lastly, label each tree with a number.

#12: ladybug counting activity

This Ladybug Counting Activity is an easy, inexpensive and hands-on way to learn to count!

MATERIALS:

• Cardboard
• Ladybug stickers
• Craft knife + mat
• Number manipulatives(exact ones I’m using linked)

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Using the craft knife and the mat, cut out 5 leaf shapes. I made mine about 3″ x 2″, but that depends on the size of your ladybug stickers. You can first use a pencil to draw an outline of a leaf and then use the craft knife to cut along the lines, but I just eyed it.
• Next, place the number manipulatives next to each leaf and set the stickers beside.

#13: water beads number find

This Water Beads Number Find is super fun and quick to set-up. We’re talking 1 minute (not including the water bead prep)!

MATERIALS:

• Numbers (anything works; magnets, buttons, notions)
• Water Beads (tweezers included in the one I’ve linked)

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Prep the water beads according to the instructions on the package.
• Place the numbers inside the water beads and hide them a bit and prep the tweezers.

Make learning math FUN with thisPom-pom Ice Cream Scoop Math Activity!It’s quick and easy to set-up and you’ll only need 4 supplies!

MATERIALS:

• Cardstock
• Colored Permanent Markers
• Large Pom-Poms
• Glue Stick

INSTRUCTIONS:

Using your best drawing abilities draw about 5 cones at the bottom of the cardstock paper with a light brown permanent marker You can make as many cones as you want math problems. Next, using a different colored permanent marker write a math problem on each cone.

#15: pom-pom caterpillars counting activity

ThisPom-pom Caterpillars Counting Activityis a super fun and exciting counting activity for toddlers and preschoolers!

MATERIALS:

• Card stock(assorted colors)
• Black permanent marker
• Pom-poms (assorted)
• Craft scissors
• Glue

INSTRUCTIONS:

Using colored cardstock cut out 10 circles, glue onto white cardstock (approx. 2″ x 6″) and add a face/antennae. Then, to the side, number each card 1-10 and draw in empty circles corresponding to the number of the card. Super simple!

MATERIALS:

• Easter Basket Grass
• Plastic Easter eggs
• Numbers (we used our magnetic numbers, I’ve linked similar)
• Bin (we love this Ikea bin)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Place the Easter basket grass into the bin and rip it apart a little bit. Next, place a magnetic number (or any small number manipulative) into the plastic Easter egg and hide in the grass filler. Do with all of the numbers (we did from 1-10).

#17: q-tip number tracing activity

Q-tip Number Tracing activity is an excellent idea for toddlers and preschoolers! Tracing is fun, just ask the kids!

MATERIALS:

• Q-tips
• Washable Paint
• Card stock(or cardboard)
• Colored Permanent markers orcolored pencils
• Paper plate

INSTRUCTIONS:

• On a piece of card stock write numbers 1 to 6 or 10 using different colored permanent markers (or colored pencils/crayons).
• Using a pencil, draw arrows that will guide the child when tracing.
• Add a bit of each paint color (matching colors as the numbers) onto a paper plate and stick a q-tip into each one (OR do as I did and use the cap from each paint bottle!).

Rules are simple! The toddler or preschooler has to trace the numbers with the q-tip and match the paint color to the number color! That’s it!

#18: popsicle stick number puzzles

These Popsicle Stick Number Puzzles are super easy to make, inexpensive and will make learning so much fun! All you need is a couple of art supplies and that’s it! Kids as young as 3 can enjoy this activity. Key is to use different colors for each number, this way the child can easily identify the three sticks that go together to make a number.

MATERIALS:

• Popsicle sticks
• Permanent markers

INSTRUCTIONS:

Start by putting 3 Popsicle sticks together, lining them up.Write a large number with one marker color and then make the number bold.Use a different color for each number/3 Popsicle sticks. Done!

#19: number weave activity

This Number Weave activity took me less than 5 minutes to create.

MATERIALS:

• Colored cardstock
• Permanent marker
• Cardboard
• Hot glue gun with glue sticks
• Shoe lace

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cut 10 (1″x 6″) strips of colored cardstock. Using the permanent marker, number each strip of paper 1 through 10. Now using the hot glue gun, glue the ends of each strip of paper together to create a circle, then glue on to the cardboard. Make a hole at the bottom of the cardboard (I used my scissors) and secure the shoe lace. If your shoe lace isn’t long enough you can tie two together to create a long one or use a thin rope instead.

#20: ice cream sprinkles count

ThisIce Cream Sprinkles Countis a fun counting activity for preschoolers!

MATERIALS:

• Easel paperorcardstock
• Kids finger paint
• Colored permanent markers
• Tapefor easel paper

INSTRUCTIONS:

If you’re using easel paper, tape a large sheet to the wall. Next draw 5 ice cream cones using the permanent markers and label each one with a number (we’re learning larger numbers now so we did 10-15). Prepare the finger paint.

#21: salt tray math activity

This Salt Tray Math Activity is an activity that anyone can do today! Literally, requires only a tray and some salt. I bet you have both of those at now right now. Okay and some flashcards.

MATERIALS:

• Salt
• Tray
• Flashcards
• Permanent markers

INSTRUCTIONS:

Dump enough salt into the tray to cover the bottom completely (too much salt will make it difficult to write). Using the permanent markers write addition or subtraction math problems on the flashcards, keeping in mind your childs’ age. Rules are simple: the child has to go through all of the cards writing full math problem out and solving them!

#22: counting train using post-it notes

ThisCounting Train using Post-It Notesis super quick to prep and so fun for the little ones!

MATERIALS:

• Easel board white paper roll(or white poster board)
• Permanent markers
• Small Post-It Notes
• Tape
• Scissors

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cut a large piece of the white easel board paper and tape to the wall by the corners. Next, using your best drawing abilities, draw a colorful train with the permanent markers, matching the colors to the Post-It notes (matching the colors is optional). Lastly, write in the numerals, we did 1-5 and the corresponding number of “boxes” on top of the train carts (where Post-It notes will go).
