Chili lasagna combines the zesty flavors of chili along with the cheesy layered kid-favorite lasagna. Developed with the busy mom in mind, this recipe uses oven-ready noodles, canned chili beans for extra flavor, along with peppers and tomatoes to sneak in extra veggies without the kids realizing it. A great way to use leftover chili!
Lasagna is one of those recipes everyone loves but thinks twice about making. It seems like it takes forever to get homemade lasagna on the table. With busy moms in mind, we created Chili Lasagna, a recipe that curbs the craving for lasagna and is on the table earlier than anticipated!
This lazy lasagna combines all the traditional flavors of lasagna with the heartiness of chili to create a dish that will be enjoyed by the whole family.
Crockpot Lasagna Casserole along with No-Boil Lasagna have always been our favorite lasagna recipes so you can only imagine the surprise when chili lasagna was declared “just as amazing” by the kids. This recipe will definitely be making an appearance on our table again real soon. How about yours?

Ingredients
Chili lasagna is packed with flavor and veggies. This recipe makes it easy to serve vegetables with dinner without the kids even realizing. It’s a win-win for everyone!
- olive oil
- 1mediumonion, diced
- 1largebell pepper, diced
- 2clovesgarlic, minced(use jarred to save time)
- 1poundground turkey
- 2packetschili seasoning
- 1 1/2cupssour creamor Greek yogurt
- 2 (15)ouncemild chili beans(don’t drain)
- 15ouncefire-roasted canned diced tomatoes (drained)
- 8ouncesoven-ready lasagna noodles(or boiled lasagna noodles)
- 2cupsshredded sharp cheddar cheese
PRO TIP: Oven-ready lasagna noodles are the secret ingredient that gets this meal served in under 40 minutes.
How To Make
- Preheat the oven.Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Saute onion and peppers then cook the ground turkey.Add a drizzle of olive oil to the skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onions and peppers and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the garlic and the ground turkey. Cook until turkey is no longer pink.
- Season the sour cream.While the turkey is cooking, place the sour cream into a medium-sized bowl. Stir in one packet of chili seasoning. Set aside.
- Add the chili beans, tomatoes, and seasoning.To the ground turkey, add the chili beans, tomatoes, and the remaining packet of chili seasoning.
- AssembleAdd 1/3 of the meat mixture to the bottom of the baking pan. Add a layer of lasagna noodles (I used 5 per layer). Next add 1/2 of the sour cream mixture. Top with another layer of meat, noodles, and sour cream. Top the sour cream with the remaining meat then add the cheese. Cover with tin foil.
- Bake.Bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and starting to brown. Let sit for 5-10 minutes, then serve.
FAQs
Do I have to use ground turkey?
Nope! The ground turkey can be swapped with ground chicken, beef, sausage or pork.
What are no-boil lasagna noodles?
Lasagna noodles that do not require boiling prior to baking – they are oven-ready straight from the box. You simply place in the pan dry and the noodles will be fully cooked once the lasagna is done baking.
Can I use leftover chili in this recipe?
We cannot think of a better way to use leftover chili than this recipe! Adjust the instructions by preheating the oven then starting at step 3 -season the sour cream, then skipping to step 5 – assemble. Add a layer of leftover chili, a layer of lasagna noodles, a layer of sour cream mixture then repeat and top with cheese.
What do you serve with chili lasagna?
We serve this recipe as it, without any side dishes. This dish alone is a complete meal that will keep your family full and fueled! If you have a little extra time on your hands or want a larger spread on the dinner table, a side salad or garlic toast would be our top two recommendations to serve.
Can I make this recipe the day before?
Absolutely. Prep the entire recipe, cover with tin foil and store in the fridge. Pop in a preheated oven the next day and in 30 minutes dinner will be served.
