I have so many things I want to share with you all from our Paris trip, but first let me start with telling you about our little scavenger hunts in Paris. With all the travel we’ve done, Paris has never made the list for neither I or Jason until now. And to be honest, after this trip I am not sure why we haven’t gone sooner! We were so excited about this trip with the kids, and wanted to make sure we saw everything. (Which btw I’m realizing now is impossible to do unless you are there for an extensive period of time).
A friend of mine (thank you Catherine) just recently went to Paris with her family, and recommended I check out Family Twist to book a few activities during our time there.Family Twist is a one-stop shop for private luxury family vacations and activities in Europe. They have designed a wide range of private, entertaining cultural and hands-on activities so that every member of your family can enjoy an exceptional, hassle-free vacation experience. All their itineraries can be tailored for you in accordance with your family’s specific needs and interests. You can choose one or more activities out of our their catalog of over 100 family experiences. I decided to choose Notre Dame & Medieval Paris for one day, and for another, a Treasure Hunt at the Louvre!
Notre Dame, Medieval Paris
For this tour we met our private guide in front of Hotel de Sens, one of the last medieval mansions still standing. During the tour, our guide Caroline, took us back some 800 years ago to a time when knights, dames, monks and beggars roamed the cobblestone streets of Paris. As we made our way toward Notre Dame Cathedral, we were able to see the ruins of the 12th century fortification wall that once protected the citizens of Paris from possible barbaric invasions, as well as charming medieval narrow streets. All the fun-facts and details given throughout the tour will give you and your family a great idea of what life in Paris was during that period of time. Then comes Notre Dame Cathedral. Built more than 850 years ago, it is one of Paris’ most iconic monuments, which you will discover from the inside.
A game booklet was given to each child to keep them engaged and entertained during this 2-hour walking tour. Which made it super easy for the kids to engage and follow along, especially since they knew what to expect next.
And once all of the riddles were solved, our guide actually knighted the kids in traditional way!
We loved our tour so much, we couldn’t wait for the next one. This tour I scheduled two days after, which I felt was a good way to not bog us down with tours and something to do each day!
Treasure Hunt at The Louvre
The Louvre is so overwhelming, and many people I have spoken to before our trip told me to try and arrange for a private tour. Family Twist literally took care of everything, from reserving the tickets and time, and we even had a special entry way since we were with our guide.
During this specially designed treasure hunt, you and your family will discover masterpieces such as the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo and the Winged Victory of Samothrace (Nike) in a very engaging and entertaining way. Our guide told us all the fun facts related to these highlights, as well as stories about the Middle Ages, the Italian Renaissance and objects even dating as far back as Ancient Egypt.By solving the clues, puzzles and riddles, your successful treasure hunters will get a gift at the end of this fun-filled 2-hour visit. This tour was hands down one of the kids favs. Gemma really took this treasure hunt seriously and found all of the paintings and sculptures before Ryder and Siella.
Family Twist also offers other activities for families traveling to Paris like croissant making, a private Seine River cruise, food tour, creating your own perfume, and so much more. I’m actually bummed we didn’t book more activities with them! Family Twist has locations all over Europe including Amsterdam, Rome, London, Barcelona, Vienna, Madrid, Dublin, Lisbon, and many more! Be sure to book them for your next European adventure!I cannot wait to see where our next endeavors take us! And thank you to Family Twist for making these tours so special for us!

The architecture is stunning! I think I would end up with a stiff neck from walking around looking up all day. I am also jealous that you got to Louvre…ever since I learned about it in my high school French class, it is something I’ve always wanted to visit!

What a fun activity! We did a scavenger hunt with the kids in Venice and they loved it immensely: it was a great way of them to engage with the city, a highlight of our stay. Saving this for our next time in Paris!
