Starting with the Witch secret (2024)

Hi everyone.

Being a witch and having a coven is really great, free perks, the health bonus etc. In order to be able to create a coven I usualy start with a character with the Witch trait, convert my first 3 kids and voilà.

But if the following generations have the witch secret, I have the trait, making it a good excuse for my liege to imprison me should I try a coup. Which I will.

So my question is : is it possible to start with a character with the witch secret ? Either from the start or by acquiring it ? Do we know of some characters who can educate you and pass in on if you start as a minor ?

If you're in debug mode: add_secret secret_witch

There are events that spawn witches. I had a realm priest who was one; I didn't find out her secret until significantly later. But, as a general rule, there isn't a good way to force AI to do stuff. I would avoid any strategy that requires the AI to take any particular action. Batman Gambits only work in fiction because the author makes sure they do. Events are heavily RNG-reliant, and often have supplementary restrictions, none of which are ever announced to the player.

If you start as an independent ruler, there won't be any liege to object to your open practice of witchcraft. You could also play a Hindu/Jain character. According to a quick Ctrl-F search, there are apparently 41 faiths that accept witchcraft, but many of them are unreformed pagans or may otherwise require playing tribal characters. There are plenty of Hindu feudal characters, I think.

Playing ironman or multiplayer mostly so not really possible ^^

True true, although I was more planning on starting as a european vassal but you(re right.

Rurik ( in 867 ) has a child that randomly has the witch secret to start the game.

Other than that, after a short bit of time in the game use the character finder to search for people with the genius and lunatic traits. They are spawned randomly by a stewardship lifestyle event and they have a good chance of having the witch secret as well and make ideal guardians for your child to induct them into witchcraft as well as giving them a good education training because of their genius trait.
